Exemplo Constructions is set to commence work on a multi-million-dollar project to refurbish
the Prahran Aquatic Centre. Commissioned by the City of Stonnington, the project is
launching in early July and on track for completion in Spring 2023.
Nestled in the heart of Prahran’s historic Chapel St district, the aquatic centre has been a
sunny, social sanctuary for Stonnington locals since its opening back in 1963. Though it has
received plenty of care and maintenance over the years, the centre’s last major update was
in the mid-90s. So a thorough refurbishment was in order.
Given its 50-year history as a beloved community hub, safety, functionality, and aesthetic
appeal are core elements of the Prahran Aquatic Centre upgrade. Timeliness is also of
utmost importance to Exemplo Constructions, with Managing Director Lakshu Adaikalavan
saying the goal is to have pool patrons enjoying the refurbished amenities as soon as
possible.
Adaikalavan brings extensive experience in aquatic centres to the project. Backed by a team
of specialised and experienced tradespeople, Exemplo is on course to deliver a quality and
long-lasting outcome for the City of Stonnington. Behind the closed doors of the facility,
Exemplo’s team will be busy emptying and repairing the outdoor 50-metre pool and toddler
pools, upgrading the pool surrounds and outdoor area, resurfacing the concourse and
repairing the grandstand benches and outdoor seating. They’ll also be updating the tiles and
fittings in the spa, sauna, and changeroom areas.
